Eddie Murphy to lead first scripted TV series 'The Chairman' for Peacock

Eddie Murphy is heading to a scripted television series for the first time. The Hollywood Reporter reveals the actor will star in a new drama titled 'The Chairman,' currently in development for Peacock.
The series will be created by Matthew Weiner, the mind behind 'Mad Men.' According to the report, plot details are still under wraps, but the show is a co-production between 101 Studios and Universal Television.
This marks Murphy's first regular TV role since his breakout stint on 'Saturday Night Live' in the early 1980s. Since then, his career has been defined by film roles in franchises like 'Beverly Hills Cop' and 'Shrek.'
Weiner, a multiple Emmy winner, is best known for his seven-season run as creator and showrunner of the acclaimed drama 'Mad Men.' The new project is part of a larger deal between NBCUniversal and 101 Studios.
