Former Saturday Night Live cast member Ego Nwodim has responded to Shane Gillis's controversial opening monologue from this past weekend's show. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gillis made a joke about women's workout attire, describing it in crude and derogatory terms during his hosting gig.

Nwodim posted an image to her Instagram Story showing her in workout gear, which she labeled with a caption playing on Gillis's language. She followed it with another picture of a meal, humorously tying her protein intake to the bit.

Her reaction comes after Dan Levy, the Schitt's Creek star, publicly criticized the joke on social media. Levy called the comments misogynistic and expressed disbelief that they aired on national television, per the outlet.

Nwodim was a featured player on SNL for seven seasons before leaving the series ahead of its current year.
