Elden Ring Actor Jack Barton Reportedly a Top Contender for Next James Bond
The search for the next 007 is heating up, and a fresh face from the world of video games is reportedly in the lead. According to ScreenRant, actor Jack Barton, known for voicing Messmer the Impaler in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, has emerged as a frontrunner.
He is said to be on a shortlist alongside Jack Lowden, Callum Turner, Paul Mescal, Jacob Elordi, and Harris Dickinson. Per the report, Barton and Lowden are currently the two names to beat.
The selection process reportedly favors a less established actor, a criteria Barton fits. His major credits include the Netflix series Heartstopper and the film Poor Things.
ScreenRant notes that director Denis Villeneuve and his casting team are seeking someone relatively new to the spotlight. Formal screen tests for the role are scheduled to begin this month.
