Elden Ring's new DLC adds a Knight who looks suspiciously like Dark Souls 2's Lucatiel
A new, paid expansion for Elden Ring has quietly resurrected a fan-favorite face from a previous FromSoftware title, according to a report from Kotaku. The 'Tarnished Edition' update introduces a new armor set dropped by a character named Knight Leontiel.
Kotaku reports that Leontiel is a new invader who appears in Starscourge Radahn's arena after the boss is defeated. Players can find her by heading north from the Site of Grace toward the catacombs. Defeating her rewards players with her full armor set and greatsword.
The design is a clear callback to Lucatiel of Mirrah from Dark Souls 2. The outlet notes Leontiel's armor features a similar toreador-style outfit and hat, complete with an attached mask, and she wields a greatsword just like her predecessor. The name 'Leontiel' is a slight, and perhaps intentional, alteration from 'Lucatiel'.
In a tragic twist that fans of the original character might appreciate, Kotaku points out that in Dark Souls 2, Lucatiel famously asks the player to remember her name as she succumbs to Hollowing. The fact that her name is misremembered in this Elden Ring incarnation plays into that poignant lore.
The armor set's special ability allows players to use the character's cape in a bullfighter-like flourish during attacks. The new Knight Leontiel can also be summoned to assist in the battle against Radahn before players later fight and defeat her to claim her gear.
Kotaku notes that accessing this new content requires purchasing the Tarnished Edition DLC upgrade, which also includes horse cosmetics and three other armor sets. The update is included automatically for players on the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game.
