The first teaser for Alex Gibney's upcoming documentary 'Musk' has landed, setting up a stark contrast in how the billionaire is viewed. According to TheWrap, the 48-second clip opens with SpaceX footage and praise for Musk as a 'real-life Iron Man' and a visionary capitalist.
As the rocket on screen begins to wobble, the tone shifts dramatically. The trailer then presents more recent, critical views of Musk, questioning his narcissism and power.
Per Variety, the film is set to make its world premiere out of competition at the Venice International Film Festival on September 8. It will then head to the Toronto International Film Festival.
TheWrap reports that Gibney, an Oscar-winning documentarian, initially set out to make a straightforward portrait. However, the project evolved as Musk's influence grew and he became more politically involved.
The documentary has a hefty runtime of 235 minutes. Bleecker Street will release it in theaters on October 16, with an even longer version slated for HBO in 2027.
