Evangelion VR game trilogy launching in 2027 with new story

Korean developer Pixelity Inc. has unveiled plans for a new virtual reality series set in the world of Neon Genesis Evangelion. As reported by Kotaku, the project is called Evangelion:Δ Cross Reflections and will be a trilogy of games, with the first part slated for a 2027 release.

The games will be set in an alternate-universe timeline, revisiting the events of the classic 1995 anime but with a new story. Players will step into the role of a NERV trainee aiming to become an Evangelion pilot, facing off against Angels in large-scale battles and exploring familiar environments from the series.

A debut trailer shows a mix of 2D-animated scenes, including damaged ships falling from the sky, characters running through NERV HQ, and moments of vehicle and Eva repair. The clip also teases quieter, more surreal moments like trimming hedges and sharing cake with Rei Ayanami and Asuka Langley.

According to Kotaku, the project arrives as the franchise charts a new course after the conclusion of the recent film series and the departure of its original visionary. It represents a more ambitious push into VR than previous Evangelion experiments.
