Exodus romance options open to all players, not gender-locked

Exodus romance options open to all players, not gender-locked

Players can pursue any romanceable character in the sci-fi RPG Exodus, regardless of whether they choose the male or female version of protagonist Jun Aslan. IGN reports narrative director Drew Karpyshyn confirmed the romances are player-driven and not restricted by gender.

Karpyshyn explained the system aims for complexity, allowing players to initiate relationships with multiple companions. Outcomes will depend on player choices and companion personalities, creating situations where not everyone can be pleased. The goal is for romances to feel like role-playing relationships rather than a gameplay mechanic with direct rewards.

The narrative team also stated that character reactions to the player will not differ based on the protagonist's gender. In a separate conversation, game director Chris King confirmed the title will include intimate scenes, describing their approach as "tasteful" and somewhat reserved.

Exodus is scheduled to arrive on PS5, Xbox Series consoles, and Windows PCs in April 2027.
