Fandango Sales Boards Venice Festival Opener 'The Girl With the Leica'

The Venice Film Festival’s Horizons section will open with a portrait of a forgotten war photographer, and now it has a global seller.

Per Variety, Fandango Sales has picked up international rights to 'The Girl With the Leica.' The film, directed by Alina Marazzi, focuses on Gerda Taro, a German-Jewish photojournalist whose anti-fascist work has been historically overlooked.

The movie is set to premiere as the official opener for the festival's Horizons strand.
