As reported by Kotaku, the film stars Tom Rhys Harries as aspiring actor Matt Hagen, who turns to an experimental treatment after a disfiguring attack. The cure has a side effect: his body begins to melt. The latest footage reportedly shows Hagen using his horrific new abilities to press a man's face through his own stomach to suffocate him.
What's getting under viewers' skin, according to the outlet, isn't just the visceral body horror but the character's despair. The trailer allegedly shows Hagen performing these monstrous acts not with glee, but with tearful misery. One previously shown scene, where the character attempts to snip away tendrils of skin growing over his eyes in an airplane bathroom, remains a point of intense squeamishness for some.
