Final Fantasy 7 Revelation locks in April 2027 release date
Square Enix has finally pinned down a solid date for the conclusion of its Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy. According to Eurogamer, director Naoki Hamaguchi announced during a State of Play stream that Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will launch worldwide on April 8, 2027.
The game will be available simultaneously on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo's upcoming Switch 2, and PC. This marks the first time a mainline entry in the remake project will hit all platforms on day one.
Per Kotaku, new gameplay details were shown. Players can swap between characters at any time, even during cutscenes, and use Yuffie's grappling hook for vertical exploration. A personal Chocobo named Piko will aid in travel and combat, and the card game Queen's Blood is returning.
The trailer also highlighted the Highwind airship for world travel and confirmed that Cloud will ride his motorcycle in battle against giant Weapons. Rock Paper Shotgun reports the showcase also teased a story expansion pass with two planned DLC packs, one focusing on Vincent Valentine and another on Sephiroth.
In a separate surprise, Square Enix released a playable demo for the upcoming HD-2D RPG Final Fantasy Resonance. Eurogamer notes the demo, available now, covers the game's first chapter and progress will carry over to the final version.
