First 'I Play Rocky' Clip Shows Uncanny Sylvester Stallone Portrayal
A fresh scene from the upcoming Rocky biopic has arrived, showcasing star Anthony Ippolito's startlingly accurate take on Sylvester Stallone. Per MovieWeb, the clip focuses on a quiet, intense moment where a dejected Stallone laments his lack of acting work.
In the scene, his wife Sasha Czack, played by AnnaSophia Robb, pushes back. She invokes Orson Welles, urging him to shake off doubt and seize control. "There are a lot of Mikes in the world," she insists. "There's only one Sylvester. Sylvester Stallone."
The film, written by Peter Gamble, chronicles Stallone's fight to star in his own script for Rocky against a skeptical 1970s studio system. Amazon MGM Studios describes it as the true story of an unknown actor betting everything on himself to play Rocky Balboa.
The supporting cast includes Matt Dillon as Stallone's father, P.J. Byrne as producer Irwin Winkler, and Stephan James as Carl Weathers. The drama is scheduled for a limited theatrical release on November 6, 2026, followed by a wide rollout on November 20.
That wide release date is symbolic, marking exactly 50 years since the original Rocky first hit theaters in 1976.
