Flemish broadcaster VRT backs upcoming Belgian royal drama 'King of Hearts'

A new Belgian royal drama series is securing its kingdom. Per Variety, the Flemish public broadcaster VRT has come aboard to back the historical coming-of-age series 'King of Hearts'.

The project, currently in development, hails from Giles Coulier and his production company De Wereldvrede. The company's past credits include the 2019 series 'War of the Worlds' and the Prix Europa-winning 'Albatros.'

The show enters a continental market where series about royalty have found ratings success and strong sales, such as the Dutch series 'Maxima.'
