Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski opens up about alcoholism and recovery
Cliff Bleszinski, the lead designer behind Gears of War, is speaking out about his past struggles with alcohol. He revealed to VGC that he was a 'functioning alcoholic,' and that his drinking eventually led to him suffering a seizure.
Now sober and focused on his health, Bleszinski is looking to the future. According to Eurogamer, he admitted the iconic Gears of War trilogy was 'largely developed hungover by me.'
The designer is also teasing a potential comeback. He told both outlets he hopes to return to creating games, aiming for a brighter chapter after reckoning with his difficult past.
