Girls revival officially ordered for 5 episodes at HBO

The girls are officially getting back together. HBO is reviving Lena Dunham's series Girls for a five-episode limited run, per The Hollywood Reporter.

The core cast from the original series is set to return, including Dunham, Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, and Zosia Mamet. Andrew Rannells is also confirmed to be back.

According to TheWrap, Dunham asked in a social video, "Can we still call it 'Girls'? Because we're like old as f--k." The revival is scheduled to begin filming in the summer of 2027, a full decade after the show's 2017 finale.

Dunham will executive produce with Judd Apatow, but original co-showrunner Jenni Konner is not involved. Dunham's recent memoir detailed a professional split from Konner, as noted by Variety.

No story details have been revealed, but HBO's head of comedy programming, Amy Gravitt, said the revival will explore the characters' lives as they approach 40.
