Gran Turismo 7 Sales Still Strong After Five Years, Major Update Coming

Push Square reports that Gran Turismo 7 is defying expectations with its sales performance. Despite being nearly five years old, the PlayStation racing sim is reportedly still selling well and growing its user base.

Series creator Kazunori Yamauchi told Traxion that the ongoing sales have been a surprise. "Gran Turismo 7 is still continuing to sell very well, but we had not expected this from the beginning," Yamauchi said, per the outlet. He attributed the continued support for the game directly to this expanding audience.

The article notes that the game's growth is considered organic, as it has never been offered as part of the PS Plus subscription service, though it does receive occasional discounts.

This sustained popularity is fueling new content. The first part of a major 'Spec 4' update is arriving soon, adding six new cars and the Sportsland Sugo track. A second wave of content for this update is planned for December.

While the future of the franchise is unknown, the report highlights Gran Turismo 7's quiet success as a notable first-party title for Sony.
