GTA 6 Extended Look Dominates Netflix Charts With 31 Million Views
Rockstar's special preview for Grand Theft Auto 6 was a massive hit on Netflix last week. According to IGN and PC Gamer, the 'Extended Look' video racked up 31.1 million views on the platform between August 27 and 30.
That number made it the most watched title on Netflix globally for that week. It topped the English language film category, easily beating the second place thriller 'The Whisper Man', which had 23.2 million views.
Push Square reports the video had a six hour exclusivity window on Netflix before hitting YouTube. The streamer's view count is calculated by dividing total hours watched by a title's runtime, differing from how YouTube counts.
On Rockstar's official YouTube channel, the same video had about 17 million views at the time of reporting. PC Gamer notes the Netflix figure is nearly double that YouTube count, and the showcase ranked number one in 87 out of 93 countries where the chart is published.
The move was reportedly initiated by Rockstar, not Netflix. While the deal's financial terms are unknown, the event's success has sparked speculation about whether other publishers might pursue similar exclusive preview windows for major game reveals in the future.
