GTA 6 Extended Look Shows Petting Dogs, Seamless Character Swaps, and a November Release
Rockstar Games gave fans a massive 26-minute peek at Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay via a Netflix special, per TheWrap. The footage, captured on a PlayStation 5, followed protagonists Jason and Lucia through their criminal and personal lives in Vice City.
The look began with a botched pickup, showcasing a Red Dead Redemption 2-style interaction system with NPCs and, critically, the ability to pet dogs. It then moved into third-person shooting and a cinematic death camera. A domestic scene in the couple's apartment allowed Jason to grab a drink, watch TV, or rush Lucia as she got ready.
Driving sequences highlighted denser traffic and a range of activities, from gas station robberies and backyard wrestling to evading car thieves. The ability to switch between Jason and Lucia appeared more seamless than in GTA 5, with players able to flip between them mid-chase, handling driving or shooting.
Not everything was crime, according to the report. New footage showed the pair playing basketball, working out, jetskiing, and visiting nightclubs and strip clubs. One bizarre moment involved Lucia finding an influencer hiding in a stolen car's trunk, who livestreamed her police escape.
The final segment placed the duo as fake security in a skyscraper during a shootout, revealing character-specific abilities: Jason had a slowdown targeting mode, while Lucia used a quick-time event to fight off an attacker with her high heels. VGC confirmed the special ran over 30 minutes and reiterated the game's release date of November 19, 2026.
