GTA 6 gameplay details reveal RPG mechanics like eating and exercising
New details for Grand Theft Auto 6 have surfaced, and per IGN, they point to the game incorporating deeper role-playing systems. According to a Rockstar cover story in Dazed magazine, players will manage protagonists Jason and Lucia through activities like eating, working out, and sleeping. These actions will have physical effects on the characters, such as altering their body composition and showing signs of fatigue.
The report suggests this is a return to mechanics seen in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which were later scaled back. The game will also feature a social media feed to scroll through, a feature long-rumored by fans. Character switching between the two leads is returning from GTA 5.
Dazed also indicated the central relationship between Jason and Lucia is a major focus, with player choices having significant consequences. Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson told the magazine the team critiques past titles to find areas for evolution, adjusting elements based on what works.
This all points to a potentially dynamic relationship system between the two characters. The news comes ahead of an extended gameplay look set to debut on Netflix, followed by a YouTube upload.
Rockstar recently addressed a series of leaks, calling the situation heartbreaking but reaffirming its commitment to delivering a high-quality product. Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled for release on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
