GTA 6 is coming to Netflix first, and Take-Two defends its $80 price tag

Rockstar Games is bringing its hotly anticipated GTA 6 to a screen near you, but not the one you might expect. Per Variety, the game’s next big reveal will be an “extended look” premiering on Netflix on August 27, marking a first-of-its-kind Hollywood-gaming partnership.

Not everyone is thrilled, with GameSpot reporting fans are upset the new look is being “paywalled” behind a streaming subscription. Meanwhile, publisher Take-Two Interactive is busy defending the game’s premium cost.

CEO Strauss Zelnick told investors that the $80 price tag represents “phenomenal value” for the open-world game, according to GameSpot. He reportedly argued the game’s quality makes it an “incredible bargain.”

The marketing blitz is everywhere. Zelnick said during an earnings call that the company is working with “virtually every social media outlet on Earth,” per GameSpot. The payoff is expected to be huge, with the company predicting massive profits when the game launches this November, still on schedule.
