GTA 6 launch leave deal convinces 20 US soldiers to reenlist
A US Army base in Georgia has found an unconventional reenlistment incentive: time off to play Grand Theft Auto 6. According to IGN, at least 20 soldiers from Fort Stewart's 9th Brigade Engineering Battalion have signed back up after being offered leave for the game's launch.
The program was confirmed by a promotional flyer posted online, which was authorized by the battalion's commanding officer, Lieutenant Colonel Ryan D. Hodgson. A division spokesperson told CBS News the goal was to create a unique program that connects with soldiers' interests to generate excitement about reenlisting.
While soldiers consider their leave, the game itself is still generating online chatter from a wave of recent leaks showing early footage. Rockstar Games is reportedly still planning its major first-look reveal for the coming week. According to IGN, Take-Two Interactive's CEO has suggested the event will be more substantial than a simple teaser.
The publisher maintains that Grand Theft Auto 6 is still scheduled for its November release date, despite the leaks.
