Guillermo del Toro calls scrapped BioShock movie talks 'one of the most disastrous calls'

Guillermo del Toro has confirmed that preliminary discussions for him to make a BioShock film collapsed almost immediately, per IGN.
The director told the outlet that he had a few conversations about adapting the video game. He described those calls as both "contentious" and "disastrous," though he did not detail who was on the other end or what exactly went wrong.
Del Toro explained that he finds the fundamental storytelling between games and films to be incompatible, noting that games involve puzzle-solving and player assembly in a way movies do not.
He stated that after his own experience developing the cancelled video game project 'Insane,' he has no desire to work on a game again. "Never again," del Toro said.
The filmmaker also expressed deep admiration for Hideo Kojima, calling him a "pure artist." He credited Kojima with the majority of the ideas for the celebrated PT demo.
