HBO's Harry Potter series fills key season 2 roles including Dobby and Tom Riddle
HBO is already casting for Season 2 of its Harry Potter TV series, even with the first season still months from its debut. Per JoBlo and TVLine, three major roles have been filled.
Billy Barratt will play the young Tom Riddle. Barratt, 19, is an International Emmy winner.
Lenny Rush, age 17, is set to portray the house-elf Dobby. The character was a CGI creation voiced by Toby Jones in the original films.
Bonnie Hill has been cast as Ginny Weasley, taking over the role from Gracie Cochrane. TVLine notes Cochrane's family stated in May that she would not return after Season 1 due to "unforeseen circumstances."
JoBlo also reports a behind-the-scenes change: writer Jon Brown has been elevated to share showrunner duties with Francesca Gardiner. The move aims to handle the complex production schedule for the multi-season plan.
The series begins with an eight-episode adaptation of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone," set to premiere on HBO and Max on December 25, 2026.
