Hideo Kojima reprises Cyberpunk 2077 cameo role for Edgerunners 2

The legendary game director is returning to Night City for the anime sequel. CD Projekt Red confirmed via social media that Hideo Kojima will appear in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, reprising his role as braindance director Hideyoshi Oshima from the original game, per IGN.

Kojima himself responded with excitement, sharing pictures from his recording session. According to his statement, he makes a cameo appearance in the anime series as Oshima, the same character players could find in Cyberpunk 2077's Konpeki Plaza during the "Heist" mission.

As reported by Kotaku, the character has Kojima's likeness, making him easy to spot for fans. The cameo was confirmed just as the review embargo for the second season lifted.

The anime's second season, which drops all 10 episodes on October 20, 2026, will bring Oshima's love for braindance technology back to the screen. IGN notes that while connections to the game aren't overt, the season has significant ties to broader Night City storylines.

Kojima is currently developing games like Physint and OD, but he still found time for this anime project, which he had teased earlier this month.
