Hong Kong Legend Ann Hui Wins Prestigious Camellia Award at Busan

Hong Kong filmmaking icon Ann Hui is set for a major honor at one of Asia's biggest festivals. Variety reports she will receive the 2026 Camellia Award at the opening ceremony of the Busan International Film Festival this October.

The award, established by BIFF in partnership with Chanel, specifically recognizes filmmakers who have advanced the status of women in cinema. It's a fitting tribute to Hui, a director whose work has been a cornerstone of Hong Kong's film landscape for decades.

She'll collect the prize at the Busan Cinema Center on October 6th, kicking off the festival's 31st edition in style.
