Horizon 3 Reportedly Has a 'Tiny Team' at Guerrilla, Is Years Away
The next mainline Horizon game is still a distant prospect, according to a report from Bloomberg. IGN and Push Square both cite the report, which states only a "tiny team" at developer Guerrilla Games is currently planning the single-player sequel.
The project, which would follow 2022's Horizon Forbidden West, is reportedly "years away from completion," per the outlets. Push Square speculates a release could be as far off as 2030 or later.
Instead of moving full speed on Horizon 3, the majority of Guerrilla's staff is reportedly focused on the multiplayer spinoff Horizon Hunters Gathering. That project is now being rebooted and scaled back into a more traditional co-op game following poor playtest feedback, according to the reporting.
Bloomberg also indicated some staff from that spinoff have been moved to a separate, mystery project slated for evaluation later this year. The Horizon universe is also expanding with a separate mobile and PC MMO, Horizon Steel Frontiers, being developed by NCSoft in collaboration with Guerrilla.
