How to Fish sells one million copies in two days on Steam

A quirky fishing game has just become a massive breakout hit on Steam. According to Eurogamer, Dazed Games' debut title 'How to Fish' sold one million copies in just two days after its August 20 release.

The developer announced the milestone in a brief Steam post, which also promised more content and bug fixes. Per Polygon, the game currently sits at number one on Steam's Top Sellers list and has a 'Very Positive' rating from nearly 12,000 user reviews.

The game's low price point is seen as a major factor in its rapid success. Eurogamer reports it launched with a 38 percent discount, pricing it at roughly $4.95 until August 27, after which it will return to $7.99.

'How to Fish' is a cooperative physics-based game for up to four players. As Polygon describes, the goal is to catch and sell fish to upgrade a boat, but players can use an unusual arsenal including firearms, explosives, and brass knuckles to secure their catch. The game includes mechanics like 'trick shot' multipliers, inspired by shooter games, that increase a creature's value.
