Inde Navarrette to star in wild Apple sci-fi thriller The Waffle House Index
Inde Navarrette is set to lead the Apple Original Films sci-fi thriller The Waffle House Index, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The project, which Apple picked up, will be produced by Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment.
Per JoBlo, the film is based on a script by Andrew Nunnelly that made the 2025 Black List. Louis Paxton, director of the upcoming Sundance award-winner The Incomer, is attached to direct.
The title references a real metric for disaster severity based on Waffle House restaurant operations. However, the movie's plot reportedly goes in a wildly different direction.
The story will reportedly center on a waitress working a night shift when an armed stranger arrives. Her situation then escalates to include a massive flood, aggressive crocodiles, a nuclear detonation, a hidden bunker, and extraterrestrial visitors.
Navarrette will also serve as an executive producer, marking her first credit in that role. No release date for the film has been announced.
