Indigenous missionary biopic 'Mussau: The First Song' greenlit for Papua New Guinea shoot

A new historical biopic is heading into production on location in Papua New Guinea, according to an exclusive report from Variety. The film, titled 'Mussau: The First Song,' will tell the story of Taula Lovovoa, an indigenous Seventh-day Adventist missionary from Mussau Island in the 1930s.

Directing the project is Indian National Film Award winner Bijukumar Damodaran. The film is being produced by Papua New Guinea-based NAFA Productions and will chart Lovovoa's journey of transformation and reconciliation.
