Intergalactic Wraps Motion Capture, Fueling State of Play Speculation
Naughty Dog's upcoming sci-fi adventure, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, has completed its cinematic performance capture shoot. The studio confirmed the milestone on social media, per IGN and Kotaku, sharing an image of lead actor Tati Gabrielle in a mo-cap suit.
The post included the message, "See you, space cowboy... That is a wrap on the very ambitious Intergalactic cinematic shoot! This cast killed it! Cannot wait to show you their incredible work when the time is right!" This indicates the actors have finished filming all story scenes, a major step in development.
Timing is fueling speculation. Sony has a State of Play showcase scheduled for September 3rd. As noted by Push Square, the news dropping just days before the event has fans wondering if Intergalactic will finally make an appearance, though the show is slated to close with Final Fantasy 7 Revelation.
While the milestone is significant, it doesn't mean the game is finished. Kotaku points out that most of Naughty Dog was reportedly focused on the now-canceled The Last of Us Online until 2023. However, comparing this timeline to past games like The Last of Us Part II, which wrapped mo-cap about a year before launch, fuels rumors of a 2027 release date for Intergalactic, as reported by all three outlets.
Naughty Dog's last new game was The Last of Us Part II in 2020. The studio has been quiet about Intergalactic since its announcement nearly two years ago, making this update a notable sign of life for the PS5 exclusive.
