Israeli Americans Protest NY Film Festival Documentary Premiere With Oct. 7 Footage
A protest took place outside the New York Film Festival premiere of a documentary about the Israel-Gaza war on Saturday.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, demonstrators used trucks with LED screens to show footage from the October 7 attacks on Israel. The protest targeted the film "NAZA," which examines Israeli military operations in Gaza.
Israeli-American Council co-chair Tal Shuster spoke at the rally. "We're not saying, don't show the film," Shuster said, per the outlet. "We're saying: it's not all the facts. Show everything else... Let them be heard. Don't just show one side."
The protesters included survivors of the Nova music festival attack, who shared their accounts with the crowd. The IAC has also launched a petition calling for screenings of the film to be accompanied by panels and survivor testimony.
The filmmakers, Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, have said they made the film to examine systems behind civilian deaths. The film recently won a jury award in Venice and begins a U.S. theatrical run in October.
