J Smith-Cameron joins Law & Order SVU as jury consultant for season 28
J. Smith-Cameron is trading boardrooms for the courthouse. According to Variety, the two-time Emmy nominee has landed a recurring role on the upcoming 28th season of "Law & Order: SVU."
She will play jury consultant Gwen Sharpe, per the report. TVLine adds that the character will debut in the season premiere on October 8 on NBC.
TVLine's report from showrunner Michele Fazekas reveals Sharpe was initially a one-off character but evolved into a peer for Captain Olivia Benson. "The problem with Benson is she's the boss," Fazekas explained, stating that Sharpe will serve as "a nice sort of sounding board" for Mariska Hargitay's character.
Fazekas told TVLine that Smith-Cameron is expected to appear "at least three times, if not more" during the season. Smith-Cameron is best known for her role as Gerri Kellman on HBO's "Succession."
