Jac Schaeffer, 'WandaVision' Creator, Tapped for Amazon's 'Stargate' Series

Amazon MGM Studios is once again trying to unlock the 'Stargate' franchise, and they've called on a Marvel veteran for the job. Per Variety, 'WandaVision' creator Jac Schaeffer is spearheading a fresh television take on the sci-fi property.
Sources tell Variety the project is part of Schaeffer's existing overall agreement with Amazon MGM. A writers' room is reportedly set to open soon. Schaeffer will executive produce alongside Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell from Safehouse Pictures.
This marks Amazon's second swing at reviving 'Stargate'. ScreenRant notes a previous effort, led by Martin Gero, was scrapped earlier this year. That project reportedly faltered due to concerns about its potential audience reach and internal studio leadership changes.
The original 'Stargate' film launched in 1994, spawning multiple long-running television series including 'Stargate SG-1'. Schaeffer's genre credentials include creating the Emmy-winning Disney+ series 'WandaVision' and its spinoff 'Agatha All Along'.
