Jack Lowden Now Odds-On Favorite to Be Next James Bond
The search for the next 007 has a new frontrunner, according to a report from MovieWeb. Jack Lowden, the Scottish actor from "Slow Horses" and "Dunkirk," has overtaken long-time favorite Callum Turner in the latest betting odds.
Turner, known for the "Fantastic Beasts" series, had reportedly been telling people he had the role locked down. But Lowden's odds have now been slashed following reports that he has auditioned and is considered the man to beat.
The 36-year-old actor does face some perceived hurdles. His age is closer to 40, which conflicts with rumors that Amazon MGM Studios wants a younger actor for a potential origin story. His starring role as an MI5 agent in the Apple TV+ spy series "Slow Horses" could also be seen as redundant while that show continues production.
Other names still in the mix include Jack O'Connell, Jacob Elordi, Leo Suter, and Dónal Finn. An official announcement on who will lead the Denis Villeneuve-directed film is expected later this year.
