Jacob Elordi dodges James Bond query at The Dog Stars premiere
Jacob Elordi was in London for the world premiere of Ridley Scott's new film, The Dog Stars. According to Variety, his arrival in Leicester Square was met with loud screams from fans, and he posed on the red carpet with one of the movie's canine co-stars.
The event also featured cast members Josh Brolin, Margaret Qualley, and Guy Pearce, alongside director Scott. Elordi praised Scott to the outlet, calling him "the king of movies" and describing the collaboration as "a dream come true."
With Elordi frequently mentioned as a contender to be the next James Bond, Variety asked if he'd been involved in any auditions. The actor deftly avoided the question, smiling and replying, "I'm here on holiday."
The film is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi story based on a 2012 novel, following survivors of a flu pandemic. Scott had originally wanted Paul Mescal for the lead role, but Elordi stepped in after Mescal's schedule conflicted with the Beatles biopics.
In a separate interview with Empire Magazine, Josh Brolin revealed he almost quit the film after his first day, feeling scared by Scott's intense process. He said he called his agent wanting out, but ultimately stayed, describing Scott's approach as creatively dangerous.
The Dog Stars is set for release on August 28.
