James Gunn and Peter Safran Keep DC Jobs After Warner Bros Shakeup

The top brass at Warner Bros Pictures are getting the boot, but the leadership at DC Studios is staying on, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter.

The shakeup comes as David Ellison's Skydance takes over the newly combined Paramount and Warner Bros. entity. In a presentation video, Ellison showed a constellation of brand logos, with the DC bullet logo prominently featured at the top alongside Paramount's mountain and the Warner shield.

More crucially, multiple insiders tell THR that DC heads James Gunn and Peter Safran are remaining in their posts. Sources say the pair met with Ellison personally last Thursday, and the meeting was positive. Per one source, they were told to "keep doing what you're doing."

It's unclear how Gunn and Safran will fit into Skydance's new structure. They reported directly to David Zaslav at Warner Bros. Discovery, but it's unknown if they'll now report straight to Ellison or to other studio heads.

The report states Ellison is supportive of the duo and wants them to at least see through upcoming DC releases. Those include the horror thriller "Clayface" this October and the 2027 Superman sequel "Man of Tomorrow." Ellison visited the set of the latter film over the summer.

One insider noted that the departed Warner film chiefs were also led to believe they would keep their jobs post-merger, showing how quickly fortunes can change.
