James Gunn says he's already writing his next movie

James Gunn is already working on his next screenplay while he waits for the assembly cut of his upcoming Superman sequel, per Variety.
On Threads, Gunn responded to a fan asking if he was ready to write his next film. "Already in it," he wrote. "I had to do something while I was waiting for the assembly!"
He also confirmed the assembly cut for "Superman: Man of Tomorrow" is complete. Filming on the superhero sequel wrapped back in August, according to both Variety and TheWrap.
The film, due in theaters July 9, 2027, sees David Corenswet return as Superman, who teams up with Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) to fight Brainiac. Rachel Brosnahan is back as Lois Lane, and the cast includes returning faces and new additions like Aaron Pierre as John Stewart.
What Gunn's next project will be remains unknown, but it's likely another DC story. He runs DC Studios alongside Peter Safran.
