James Gunn Shuts Down Jensen Ackles DC Casting Rumors

James Gunn has officially doused the latest DC Universe casting rumor. The speculation ignited after fans noticed actor Jensen Ackles had started following the DC Studios co-CEO on Instagram.

Gunn directly addressed a user's post about the social media activity. According to ScreenRant, Gunn's response was blunt: "Thanks for letting me know. I'm going to follow him back. I met him once 20 years ago when he was dating a friend of mine. Nice guy. We haven't cast him as anything."

This isn't the first time a celebrity following Gunn online has sparked unfounded casting chatter. The DC boss previously had to clarify similar rumors involving Grant Gustin, who played The Flash on The CW.

Ackles, best known for Supernatural and The Boys, has long been a fan-favorite pick to play Batman. However, Gunn's statement makes it clear no such deal is in the works.
