James Gunn Wraps Filming on Superman Sequel Man of Tomorrow
Director James Gunn has officially announced the end of principal photography for his upcoming Superman movie, Man of Tomorrow, per JoBlo. Gunn shared the news on Threads, posting photos from the final day of filming.
One picture shows actor Nicholas Hoult, who plays Lex Luthor, celebrating by jumping into a lake. Gunn captioned the post, expressing gratitude to his cast and crew and calling the experience "joyful."
Gunn previously described the film on the Howard Stern Show as a story where "Lex Luthor and Superman have to work together to a certain degree against a much, much bigger threat." He noted the movie is "as much a Lex movie as it is a Superman movie."
The director has also teased Hoult's Lex Luthor in his iconic green exo-armor. The returning cast includes David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen.
New additions include Lars Eidinger as Brainiac and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart. Xolo Maridueña will also appear, reprising his role as Blue Beetle. Man of Tomorrow is scheduled for release on July 9, 2027.
