Jessica Biel Details Plans for a Modernized '7th Heaven' Reboot

Jessica Biel has shed new light on the upcoming '7th Heaven' revival, promising a modern update for a new generation of viewers. Speaking on the Collider Ladies Night podcast, the original star and current producer said the new version will tackle contemporary issues with fewer creative constraints than the original series had.

Per Variety, Biel stated the show will address technology, school, bullying, drugs, and alcohol in a 'very real way.' She noted that while the original series 'gently touched on' such topics, the new version has 'less limitations' to explore them.

Biel explained her motivation stems from a lack of family-friendly programming she can watch with her own children. She hopes to bring back themes of family, community, and faith in a 'glass-half-full' but realistic tone, rather than something 'so jaded.'

As a producer, Biel told Variety she aims to foster a 'safe place' on set for creative and vulnerable work, emphasizing open communication. The reboot was first reported by the outlet in May 2025, with sources indicating it would center on a new, varied household and not feature returning cast members from the original show.
