Jon Stewart Extends Daily Show Hosting Deal Through 2028 Election

Jon Stewart isn't leaving his desk anytime soon. He's signed a new two-year deal to keep hosting and executive producing The Daily Show part-time through 2028, according to reports from The Hollywood Reporter and TVLine.
The extension means he will helm the Comedy Central show through the next presidential election cycle. Skydance Television, which produces the series, confirmed the news Monday. George Cheeks of Skydance TV called Stewart a "generational talent" in a statement.
Stewart returned to the show in 2024, anchoring the Monday night broadcast each week. A rotation of correspondents, including Ronny Chieng and Desi Lydic, hosts the Tuesday through Thursday episodes. He also remains an executive producer on the program throughout the week.
The Hollywood Reporter notes Stewart's recent return has boosted ratings, with the show's third quarter audience hitting over 1 million viewers, its best for that period since 2018. Jen Flanz serves as showrunner and executive produces alongside Stewart.
