Karan Johar ends 'Koffee With Karan' after 22 years with final season

The long-running celebrity talk show "Koffee With Karan" is officially ending. Per an exclusive report from Variety, host and creator Karan Johar has decided the upcoming ninth season will be the show's last.

Johar told Variety the choice was "emotional and personal." He said hosting the program for 22 years was rewarding, but he wants to focus on directing more films in the next decade. The final season will premiere on JioHotstar starting October 14.

The show first launched in 2004, featuring actor Shah Rukh Khan and actress Kajol in its debut episode. Over eight seasons and 161 episodes, it became known for viral moments and candid conversations about relationships among Bollywood's biggest stars.

In 2022, Johar moved the show from TV to streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. The platform later merged with JioCinema to become JioHotstar. A JioStar executive called the series a "pop culture phenomenon" that built a unique connection with audiences.

Johar's final message, via Variety, expressed hope that the show's "legacy of love" would continue. He said this would be the last time he sits on the famous couch for the program.
