Kelsey Grammer eyes NBC return with new medical drama Pops

Kelsey Grammer is developing a new medical series for NBC. According to TVLine, the project is titled Pops and casts Grammer as a man who reinvents his life by becoming an EMT later in life, working alongside much younger colleagues in high-pressure emergencies.

The drama is reportedly inspired by the real-life story of Ed Levien, a Maryland man who became an emergency medical technician in his sixties. Danny Weiss, a longtime writer and producer on Chicago Med, is set to write and executive produce. Grammer will also serve as an executive producer.

This marks a potential return to NBC for Grammer, who is best known for playing Frasier Crane across Cheers and Frasier. His recent revival of that role on Paramount+ was canceled earlier this year.

TVLine notes that Grammer isn't the only Frasier alum with a project in the works at the network. David Hyde Pierce, who played Niles Crane, is attached to star in a new multi-camera comedy currently in development.
