Kiefer Sutherland Says 'Young Guns 3' Script Is Amazing

Kiefer Sutherland just gave fans of the cowboy franchise a reason to get excited. In an exclusive chat with Collider, the actor confirmed that a third 'Young Guns' movie is in the works and he's seen the script.

Sutherland played Doc Scurlock, who was famously shot many, many times in 'Young Guns II'. When talking about returning, Sutherland recalled a conversation with co-star Emilio Estevez. "He looked at me and said, ‘Well, no one saw you die, dude,’" Sutherland told Collider. The actor joked about his character's apparent survival, saying, "I held the world record for the amount of squibs on a human being for three years."

Despite the humorous debate about Doc's fate, Sutherland was serious about the new material. "I promise you, the script is amazing," he said. He also mentioned that Lou Diamond Phillips is expected back, and that Christian Slater will likely return as well.

According to the report, Estevez is set to return as Billy the Kid and to direct the project, which has been referred to as 'Young Guns 3: Dead or Alive'. Original writer John Fusco is also involved. There's no official start date yet, but Sutherland's endorsement is a promising sign for the long-gestating sequel.
