Krafton kills PUBG: Black Budget less than a year after announcement

Krafton has officially scrapped its PUBG extraction shooter spin-off, PUBG: Black Budget. The publisher announced the cancellation on the game's Steam page, according to reports from GameSpot and Eurogamer.
Krafton stated the decision came from an internal evaluation. The company concluded the project's trajectory would not result in a title that could hold players' interest for a sustained period, per the statement.
First revealed in November 2025, Black Budget was designed as a PvEvP first-person shooter set on a time-loop island with weird weather, aiming to mix battle royale and extraction elements. It had already gone through multiple closed alpha tests, including a major one this past June.
This marks the second PUBG spin-off to get axed publicly this year. The tactical shooter PUBG: Blindspot was cancelled back in March after a brief early access period.
The publisher said the team will apply lessons learned from Black Budget to future projects. Attention now shifts to the next announced spin-off, PUBG: Ded.Net, an 80s-style multiplayer shooter with roguelite elements revealed at gamescom.
