Kung Fu Soccer, a Shaolin Soccer sequel, sets US release date

Stephen Chow's latest film, a spiritual successor to 'Shaolin Soccer', is finally coming to Western theaters. According to MovieWeb, the movie earned a massive $344.4 million to become China's biggest summer hit.
Per reports from The Hollywood Reporter and MovieWeb, distributor Encore Films will open 'Kung Fu Soccer' in the United States, Canada, the U.K., and Ireland on October 23, 2026. The release will include both the original language version and a new English dub.
The Hollywood Reporter notes the dubbed version will feature voice work from actors Jimmy O. Yang and MC Jin, with Chow himself also participating. Encore Films managing director Joyce Lee said the release aims to bring Chow's signature comedy to new audiences.
MovieWeb describes the film as following a women's soccer team entering the 'Supreme Invincible Cup', starring Zhang Xiaofei as the team captain, with Dilraba Dilmurat as the star striker and Lay Zhang as a kung fu mentor. The outlet says the trailer showcases the film's over-the-top style, including a scene where a kicked ball forces a plane to swerve.
