Lanterns' HBO Max premiere draws 9.3 million viewers in just three days
Variety reports that the new DC series "Lanterns" has drawn a massive audience right out of the gate. The show's debut episode was watched 9.3 million times across HBO and HBO Max over its first three days of release.
That figure makes it the most-watched premiere for any DC Studios show on the HBO Max platform. According to HBO, 6.6 million of those views came from the United States alone.
The numbers put "Lanterns" among the top five series premieres ever for the streamer. For comparison, the outlet notes that "The Penguin" reached 10.4 million viewers after 11 days in 2024.
The series, based on the Green Lantern comics, stars Aaron Pierre and Kyle Chandler as intergalactic cops investigating a murder. It was picked up by HBO for an eight-episode run.
