Late Night Hosts Slam Trump's 'Decoy Plane' Stunt at Correspondents' Dinner
Seth Meyers, even on hiatus, still has time to mock a former president. On a YouTube show, he questioned the future of the White House Correspondents' Dinner after revelations about Donald Trump's travel security in Turkey.
According to TheWrap, Meyers referenced reports that Trump had used a separate, decoy aircraft for the press and some staff while he secretly departed from another location. He joked that if the president considered a plane with journalists on it too dangerous for himself, maybe the annual dinner is off.
Meyers and writer Sal Gentile discussed the incident on their show. Gentile quipped that the dinner should only proceed if everyone can fit into the catering cart Trump allegedly used to move between planes.
The host added a surreal hypothetical, suggesting it would be fun if Trump made a grand entrance from a catering truck. The story, first confirmed in August, involved Trump leaving Turkey due to a perceived threat, leaving others on the plane he was expected to board.
