Lila Avilés shares first look at new film 'Cábula'

Lila Avilés, who won the Berlin Golden Bear for her film 'Totém,' has finished shooting her next project. The director has wrapped production on her feature film 'Cábula,' according to an exclusive report from Variety.

Avilés shared a first-look image from the film with the outlet. The movie is set in the fictional Mexican town of Mexicalpan and follows a character named Toña.

The director will now take the project to a key industry event. She is set to present 'Cábula' during the Venice Gap-Financing Market, which runs from September 4 to 6.

The Venice event is a forum where filmmakers seek funding to complete their projects. Avilés's participation suggests the film is in its final stages of development before a full release.
