Lucasfilm Games Says It's Now 'More Flexible' with Star Wars Pitches

The team behind Star Wars games is opening its doors to new creative partners, according to a top executive. Per Eurogamer, Lucasfilm Games vice president Douglas Reilly told The Game Business the company has become "more flexible about who we're willing to take pitches from."

This shift in strategy is credited for this year's releases, Star Wars: Zero Company and Star Wars: Galactic Racer, both developed by smaller independent studios. Reilly noted that good ideas can come from "a lot of different places" and that you don't "necessarily have to be a top-five publisher to make a great Star Wars game."

This marks a change from the previous model, where exclusive licensing deals with major publishers like EA limited output. The new approach aims for a more varied and frequent lineup of games.

Reilly teased future projects, stating the company is "exploring all kinds of things, large and small" with partners that will "continue to surprise folks." Currently announced titles include Quantic Dream's Star Wars Eclipse, a third Jedi game from Respawn, and Casey Hudson's Fate of the Old Republic, while the Knights of the Old Republic Remake is still in development at Saber Interactive, according to the report.
