Magic: The Gathering unveils 2027 Marvel set Darkhold Destiny

Wizards of the Coast has announced its next Marvel crossover, a trading card set called Marvel: Darkhold Destiny. According to Variety, the collection will focus on mystical characters like Doctor Strange, Thor, Hela, and Dormammu. It is slated to launch on April 9, 2027, with preorders already live, per IGN.

The set will feature an original narrative developed jointly by Wizards and Marvel. IGN reports the story involves Dormammu and Hela using the Darkhold book to invade the multiverse, with heroes like Doctor Strange and Thor rising to stop them. This tale will also be adapted into a Marvel comic in February 2027.

GameSpot notes the set will include standard and Collector booster packs. Polygon confirms it will launch with four pre-constructed Commander decks. Their themes include Asgardian gods, Doctor Strange's academy, a supernatural team, and the rulers of the underworld.

IGN adds that the set introduces a brand-new original Marvel character and will bring back the Arcane spell subtype, unused since 2005. Special promo cards and collector editions of the Commander decks will also be available.
